    Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to an inclusive digital experience and real help when a barrier gets in the way.

    Last updated
    July 12, 2026
    • Our technical target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
    • We prioritize keyboard access, contrast, structure, forms, and assistive-technology compatibility.
    • If a feature is not accessible, we will help by phone or email without a surcharge.
    • You can request a reasonable accommodation without disclosing a diagnosis.

    1. Our commitment

Skin & Self wants every guest to be able to learn about our services, contact us, and book an appointment with dignity and independence. We work to provide an inclusive digital experience for people with disabilities and to offer practical alternatives when a website or third-party feature creates a barrier.

    2. Accessibility standard

Our current goal is to align the site with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. WCAG is an internationally recognized technical standard covering perceivable content, keyboard access, understandable interactions, and compatibility with assistive technology.

This statement describes a goal and an ongoing practice, not a guarantee that every page or external integration is fully conformant at every moment. We prioritize barriers that prevent someone from obtaining information, communicating with us, or completing a booking.

Learn more in the WCAG 2.2 Recommendation.

    3. Measures we use

    • Semantic page landmarks, logical headings, descriptive page titles, and meaningful link text.
    • Keyboard-accessible navigation and controls with visible focus indicators.
    • Text and interface contrast designed for readability on light and dark surfaces.
    • Alternative text for meaningful images and hidden labels for decorative or redundant content.
    • Form labels, instructions, status messages, and errors that do not rely on color alone.
    • Responsive layouts that support zoom, text enlargement, mobile devices, and varied orientations.
    • Reduced-motion support where motion is not essential and controls for media where applicable.
    • English and Spanish paths with document language identified for assistive technology.
    • Accessibility checks during significant design and booking-flow changes, plus manual review of key journeys.

    4. Third-party features

Some functions are provided by independent services, including Square booking and payment interfaces, website chat, maps, social media, and embedded media. Their accessibility may change without our direct control. We select and configure providers with accessibility in mind and report material barriers when we find them.

    An accessible alternative is available

If a booking, payment, chat, map, or document is difficult to use, call (914) 948-1989 or email myskinandself@gmail.com. We will provide the same core information or help with the transaction through a reasonable alternative, without an accessibility surcharge.

    5. Appointments and reasonable accommodations

If you need a communication aid, additional time, help with a form, an alternative format, or another reasonable accommodation for a visit, contact us before the appointment when possible. We will discuss the request with you and make reasonable efforts to support safe, effective access. Calling ahead gives us the best opportunity to coordinate building, service, and communication needs.

    6. Report a barrier or request help

Tell us the page or feature involved, what you were trying to do, the barrier you encountered, and a preferred way to contact you. If comfortable, include the browser, device, and assistive technology used. You do not need to disclose a diagnosis.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility feedback promptly, investigate the issue, provide useful information or an alternative, and prioritize a durable fix based on impact. Complex issues or barriers within an independent provider may take longer, but we will keep you informed when you request a response.

    7. Ongoing improvement

Accessibility is part of our maintenance process. We review new components, content, color and focus states, forms, and critical booking paths, and we update this statement when our approach materially changes. Feedback from real users is especially valuable because automated tools cannot identify every barrier.
