Non-Surgical Body Contouring: Which Treatment Actually Fits Your Goals?
By Olga Florez · Founder & Director, Skin and Self Med Spa
Body contouring treatment room at Skin and Self Med Spa, White Plains, NY
Most clients walk in saying "I want body contouring" without knowing the term covers four very different technologies that solve four very different problems. The honest answer to "which one should I do?" depends entirely on what you're actually trying to fix. Here's how we walk that decision with every consultation at our White Plains location.
The honest framing first
Founder Olga Florez has 25+ years of experience in aesthetics, lymphatic drainage, and body services. Post-operative services require clearance and follow the treating surgeon's instructions.
SculpSure: the fat-reduction workhorse
See the live Square booking menu for current prices and available packages. Your provider confirms the appropriate option and total before treatment.
Best for: stubborn pockets in abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, submental (chin) area. Most clients see meaningful change after 1-2 sessions per area, with results visible at 6 weeks and continuing to refine through week 12.
Not good for: skin laxity. SculpSure reduces fat; it doesn't tighten skin. If your concern is loose skin after weight loss, SculpSure alone won't address it.
TempSure Body: for skin tightening
TempSure Body is cataloged as an area-specific radiofrequency service. The exact device model, labeled indication, risks, treatment area, and expected cosmetic outcome require confirmation; it should not be represented as automatically tightening skin after fat reduction.
Best for mild post-weight-loss skin laxity, post-pregnancy skin, or body areas that look "crepey" but don't have excess fat to remove. Series of 3-4 sessions for optimal results, with progressive tightening over 2-3 months as the new collagen forms. If your laxity is significant (multiple inches of loose skin that lifts cleanly between two fingers), TempSure won't catch up. We'll refer to a board-certified plastic surgeon.
Anti-cellulite + carboxy: different problem entirely
Cellulite is not fat. It's the visible dimpling caused by fibrous bands (septae) tethering the skin to deeper tissue, with fat cells bulging up between them. That's why people with low body fat still have cellulite; it's structural, not fat-related.
For cellulite specifically, we use the DermoCell and Cellutec devices for anti-cellulite treatment to mechanically break down those fibrous bands, paired with carboxy therapy (small CO2 injections that improve circulation and stimulate collagen). Series of 6-10 sessions for visible improvement, with monthly maintenance.
Lymphatic drainage: the essential pairing
This is the part most ads skip. After SculpSure, laser lipo, or any contouring treatment, the destroyed fat cells need to be metabolized and cleared through the lymphatic system. Lymphatic drainage massage accelerates that clearance significantly, meaning visible results show up weeks earlier than they would alone.
We routinely package SculpSure with 4-5 lymphatic drainage sessions in the weeks following. Clients who skip this step sometimes get frustrated at week 4 that "results aren't showing yet," when they would have been showing if they'd done the lymphatic work.
How to combine
- Stubborn fat + mild laxity: SculpSure on the targeted area, then TempSure Body to tighten. 2-3 month total timeline.
- Cellulite-only on thighs/glutes: Anti-cellulite + carboxy series, 6-10 sessions. Lymphatic drainage as adjunct.
- Wedding/event in 8-12 weeks: SculpSure 8 weeks out, lymphatic drainage in the final 2 weeks for the deflated look.
- Post-pregnancy core: TempSure Body + lymphatic drainage. Expect 3-4 month timeline before noticeable change.
